LH Sidecase Replaced
« on: November 17, 2014, 06:18:23 PM »
After something like 8 years when my 1100 had a minor argument with a small roo the LH side case has been replaced.

I bought it off of Shaun a few weeks ago and fitted it today. In the process I had to swap the locks over so I could still use my key. The rear lock has been out of action for God knows how long so after removing the tumbler piece I found something had fallen into the keyway (probably that little bit that covers the keyhole) which I removed.

Now I have two locks that work but only on my spare key. My normal key was worn so much (wouldn't lock steering) that I could pull it out of the ignition and still have the bike running (came in handy at night) so I need to order some new keys ASAP.

I removed the red reflectors from the RH case which were only there to match the LH ones which were hiding a crack on the case. The black/white one that was on the one from Shaun's was also removed.  Next up is to either remove the studs from the LH case or find some for the RH case so I can use the covers that came with the new case.

I haven't heard of these covers before.
What are they for?
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

You weren't alone.......They came with the case I bought from Shaun. The guys over on My Mc Phoenix asked the same so here's a the  pics I put over there. Not sure what they're made of but either vinyl or fake leather with the foam layer.

Neat, some one made up covers to protect the panniers from boot scuffs.

Should only need the right side.
