Thanks Marcus.  I thought I simply couldn't find the "multiple destinations" feature, and therefore had reverted to using the Classic version of Google Maps.

Same.

To get it to work,
Step one: Type in your starting point
Step two: click on "directions"
Step three: Enter in your next destination.
You will now see a + symbol.
Clicking on the plus will allow more then one destination, which you can click and drag to any position just like the old maps

I still think the old one is easier.......though I can't save maps anymore.

Thanks for saving hint on the new maps but I meant I can't save maps in the old maps any more.....I used to save as kml file and add to google Earth as it was easier to see all my trips on one map.

Click on the more advance version of Google maps

You can save out to an KML file from here

That's the part I have trouble with......I spent 10 minutes before trying to get a route from Point A to Point B and it just doesn't work or it says I have to many layers and I haven't done anything........

The new basic version I can cope with but the advanced is hopeless
