Decided not to join th happy group - all - you do it talk politics.

But seriously - I'll be out practising for a FarRally which I stupidly agreed to do.
Like one of the kids school car treasure hunts with 1200kms thrown in for the fun off it.
Have to learn to concentrate on more than the road, since they want pictorial proof of how well I got lost and forgot things they wanted.
Enjoy the day.

So you are part of that FarRally - I am surprised, but then you came out in the number draw so must be a sign?  I decided early on that sort of thing was not for me.  Name hunting, treasure hunting etc - I go out to ride!

Guys, I just saw a bit on the news that the guy who runs the servo in Grantham is on the verge of closing his doors because of lack of business. This is not good news for him, and is one of the reasons for the ride,  but maybe we should think about ensuring that we don't roll into Grantham on fumes...just in case!!

Cheers

That's the thing Whizz. Everybody thinks things are all back to normal. They did all receive help to get their businesses up and running again, but that doesn't pay the ongoing bills. Half the town is gone, literally. I know our little gesture may not help much, but we can be a link in the chain, or a tooth in the pinion in our case, or whatever it is.  Anyway, I hope as many as can will join in for that reason. For all who do join in, make sure you have a chat to the locals and let them know that they are not forgotten. If you ever head west on your jaunts, try to support them by buying a cold drink and some fuel.
No vested interest here, just an understanding of how hard they are doing it.
Cheers all.

Here here!!

When the floods came on that day...and the days that followed, me and she-who-must-be-obeyed were living in a suburb of Ipswich prone to flooding. Our house came within a few feet of going under, and we were tapped in the suburb unable to get out for three days. No power, no exit, just watching the waters rising. Truly a scary scary situation for us to be in...but absolutely NOTHING compared to what the people of Grantham and Toowoomba and the other villages down the range went through. Anything I can do to help out, in however small a way, I will do!

Cheers all, look forward to meeting you all on Saturday.

i am in Brendale any northern starters want to meet up, on the way to Blacksoil,
say yes or no, tell me where, and the time that suits you,

at 400 kl s between fuel stops, WHO is going to be running on fumes ???

I'll go the longest way round, through as many toll booths as I can find.

it is only a 1 hour ride from Brendale to Caltex  Blacksoil,

come on BGL's, where do we all meet up for the ride to Blacksoil

by my count is SHOULD BE under 190 Klm's Brendale to Grantham
RIGHT  ???

so I'll start out with half a tank, so's i can buy a tank full at Grantham

you blokes NEED to check out your fuel consumption on just such a short ride ??

You might be right harieg - 1hr 30mins from Caboolture BP Southbound to Blacksoil - so 7.30am ride out - 9am arrival at Blacksoil - 9.15 ride out to Grantham

66kms from Blacksoil to Grantham.

Maybe only need to leave Caboolture southbound by 7.30am.   SKIP??????

As Far as fuel is concerned - I only need to arrive at Blacksoil as my last fuel light starts blinking, as there is usually 70-80 k's worth of travel still in the tank. (This is for my 1300)

HarieG & Diesel. You are the only ones out this way that have confirmed you are going, apart from Biggles, but he is going to take on all the traffic lights so we'll see him at Blacksoil. I agree with HarieG, see my post #32. I will have my son in tow and maybe a mate on his M109 Boulevard. Diesel, I reckon we get away from the BP by 7.30 so have a sleep in. HarieG, where do you want to join the train? I guess you would join the Gateway M'way at Deagan Deviation coming through Bracken Ridge. You tell us where you can wait for us and we'll pick you up there. The time is about the same, whether we stay on the motorway's or head through Mt Gravatt/Kessels Road. I prefer to keep moving. Any other questions gentlemen?

Come on Biggles. Forecast "mainly fine, possible shower', singular. I just read it.
HarieG. Yeah we'll stay on the 'big road'. If you pull onto the shoulder just the other side of the bridge that will give us a bit more time to let you know we're coming. We will leave the BP at 7.30 sharp. That means I have to get Diesel to start saddling up at 7.20.
Cheers.
