Nostalgia Machine
« on: March 10, 2015, 04:56:25 PM »
One of the best websites I've seen.
Set at 1960 but you can change the year to view
YouTube clips of the hits of that particular year.

If you start a clip and don't want to watch it to the end
you need to pause it to move to another
video.

You can enlarge each video to full screen but you need to
press the ‘ escape’ button to go back to the main menu screen.

Enjoy.

I typed in 1970. found "the house of the rising sun" and found my music buff daughter couldn't pick the group singing, frijid pink - I hadn't heard of them either, but it's a good version  :thumb

I acknowledge hardworking Australians no matter who they are or where they come from. All those who have contributed to this wonderful country deserve an equal share of gratitude for their contributions. To single any group of individuals out for special homage only denigrates the rest of us.

Wow.
That 1960 to 69 collection just about sums up the selection on my GPS' music folder.    :grin
Excellent presentation.
Amazing how many one hit wonders there have been down through the years.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

You just cost me an hour while I downloaded a bunch of those vids.
Many thanks!    ++

3 Credence hits in '69 is where I'd start from. Quite a few other artists before that I have on CD/PC but rarely listen to.

Very popular stuff. What about The Stooges, MC5 and other alternative stuff (all 1969, predated punk and other heavy stuff by years)?  When I first came across these in 1977 I realised that I had a sheltered music upbringing in the country, perhaps one radio in the house and a local music station had something to do with it.
