Pulled everything out of the boxes at 8.30 this morning.

Tower speccies for the technically minded....

Midi ATX case, internal 150 mm cooling fan, 480 watt power supply.
Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2H Mobo ... 2 x USB2, 4 x USB3 ports at rear, 2 x USB3 at front of case.
Internal 2 x SATA2, 2 X SATA3 ports.
Intel CPU i7-4790 LGA 1150 pin 4xDuo core.
2x Kingston 8 Gig KVR16N11/8 Ram, 16 Gig total.
TP-Link 150Mbps wireless card.
Seagate 3Tb sata2 HDD NTFS
1 x Sony BluRay Multi Burner.
1 x Sony Dual Layer Multi DVD Burner.

No video card fitted as yet, using onboard 1 gig graphics.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

One hour to assemble, 3 hours to install requested programs, and update all software and firmware.

Niiiiiice.....

Considering his old computer is the first of the series of Vista 32 bit OS with just 2 Gig of ram, he is in for a pleasant surprise when I deliver his new Beast.

Easy fixed.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Wich version of windows, 7 or 8.1  ??

I wont use home versions of windows, prefer the Professional edition. Much better for networking and fixing networking problems..

Nice going by the way..  Which AV did you install, Ive been using MS security essentials mainly, since VET (Now Computer associates) was sold to india..

Bill, this cat is like a rubber ball.... she just bounces right back... she is clingier than duct tape! I often have to shut her in the bathroom to get some peace.

Brock, to be honest, I missed that... W7... his choice. Personally I use W7 Ultimate.

I have used Avast antivirus since Vet sold out.

Brock, what does Ms security essentials cost? I haven't had with any issues CA. Didn't know they'd sold to India though.

MS security essentials is free..

I found out about CA when I called the hotline to get a link to the utility that freed up the updating. Updayes occasionally would lock up and a quick call used to get a link sent by email. The last time I called was to an indian call centre, and they wanted to take control of the puter, and sell me an ongoing maintenance service.... That wasnt going to happen.

Mate picked up his computer yesterday, and set it  up today.
Had a phonecall this evening, he was laughing so hard, was difficult to understand him.... apparently, his teen daughter decided to burn a DVD, and was over the moon, because it only took 14 minutes to convert and burn...she has been used to the old P4 with only 2 gig of ram, and had gotten used to 1 hour to convert, and a further 20 mins to burn, on an old 4 speed DVD burner..
