We went to our local Blackwood Dawn Service, which was attended by thousands of people and has been growing every year. We then went back to our daughters place for a bacon and eggs breakfast, and as a family we reflected upon the loss of my Dad's aircraft and crew over Belgium in 1945, from which he was the sole survivor, and my grandfather's service in both WWI and WWII.
The photo is of my Dad's crew from Halifax Z5N, 462 Squadron. All of these lads lost their lives on the 6th January 1945, except for Dad who is in the center of the back row.
The other is a local paper article from Anzac Day 2014. I am very proud of my Dad's service and achievement, which mirrors that of thousands of other servicemen of his generation.
