ST1300 Rider from Mandurah WA
« on: April 27, 2015, 04:30:17 PM »
Hi All, Managed to pick up a Ex Police ST1300, 2006 model

Stripped it down this weekend, found out it was a 2008 model, so that was a bonus, gave it a good clean, found CT14 works a treat on road grime.

Managed to sort out the police wiring harness after much testing with a multimeter, Added some led spotlights & side lights to fill in the holes, replaced the front brake pads with Goldfren ceramic pads, flushed the cooling system & refilled, put in a new set of Iridium plugs, changed to Motul 7100 oil and K&N air & oil filters.
Removed the police interlock key.
Put in a digital volt gauge and magnetic charging port for my Cetek charger & Stebel horn.
Might leave the checkered reflective stripes on the side.
Just looking online for a suitable immobilizer system.

Hopefully get out for a ride in a couple of weeks :)

So all in all a busy weekend

Hi Kimbosarnie, and welcome to OzSTOC from SA :hatwave

You will find lots of  information and willing advisors here on the forum.  It's a bit of a bonus finding that your bike is an '08, as that year included the last of the changes and improvements to the ST.

Welcome kimborsanie.
What is a magnetic charging port?
Good news that you have an 08, that means it should have the last of the minor changes.

The Magnetic port is called a Magcode and is made by Hella, I have used the hole that was left when I took out the extra kill switch installed on the Police edition. I can use this Magcode port for charging the main battery via my Cetek charger, or also plug anything into to it via a Magcode plug and get out 12Vdc at around 20amps ( I have put an extra fuse box located at the rear where the police electronics used to be.

Welcome kimborsanie.

G'day Kimbosarnie and welcome from the 'Gong, NSW,

Your name reminds me of The Lone Ranger and Tonto who used 2 refer 2 the LR as "Kimosabe" or am I getting my westerns mixed up with something else. Anyway, don't keep us in suspenders: "Kimbosarnie" a combo of names or something else?

It all looks very "Police-like".  You'll have them pulling over out of sheer guilt if you sit on their tails.    :grin

Judging by all the farkling, there's not a lot you need help with.  You did more in a weekend than I'd fit into a month of spare time.

Welcome to the fray.

Not for the faint-hearted!
And they claim that's half price!
