Camp Stove

I'm in the market for a small camp stove/kettle.....I have used the basic Hexamine tablet cookers a long time ago hiking etc 

Will mostly be used for hot drinks and the occasional freeze dried meal prep 


I need compact (not always bike use), quick and efficient to run.


The Jetboil Flash has made it to the top of my list so far......

I like the trangia metho stove.

I use a normal gas burner that screws onto the top of a gas can like the jetboil, and carry a little set of stackable pans I bought at Kmart. I also have a adaptor to allow the use of the cheaper gas cans, but it is not quite as hot as the screw on type.

That is my setup. If I was not using the stove much I would just take the screw on gas can. I got mine at BigW when they were clearing out camping gear, so it was just meant to be.

I have an earlier version of the JetBoil which cost me $200.
It is quick and does boil a litre of water in 2 mins.
I also bought a Jetboil frying pan and a pot.

I had a trangie some time ago and it was a little small for 4x4 camping and a little big and noisy to carry for hiking and hunting.....so I shelved it for a while then gave to a mate who really wanted one. Not long after I was involved at work with a hiker that was burnt up his shin from a trangie when it was accidents kicked over.

Problem I have is you have no control over the metho if spilt and alight
