How sensible to have basic information about criteria for warnings for minor speeds. Not before time.

I wonder if there is a limit on the number of warnings?
A.
I acknowledge hardworking Australians no matter who they are or where they come from. All those who have contributed to this wonderful country deserve an equal share of gratitude for their contributions. To single any group of individuals out for special homage only denigrates the rest of us.

A max of one in three years, I suspect.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I've used the system on the recommendation of the Hwy patrol officer who pinged me well over the limit in a 100 zone in
Vic.  Was a decent bloke who not only lowered the actual speed on the ticket but turned it over and pointed out the address to which I wrote seeking mercy, and that I would probably get away with a caution.

My letter incl. comments about the Vic tourism event which I was supporting (Moto Scouts escorting a major cycling event) and the fact we had just been riding in SA and western Vic where the limit is 110. I also mentioned that I had full points on my licence.

Response - none whatsoever! the whole matter just disappeared. A bit odd but it happened. This was abt 2 yrs ago.

Later on my partner received a speed camera ticket in Vic. Similar letter sent and the response was a caution but it implied that they might not be so forgiving next time.

In NSW, to be considered for an official caution in relation to traffic matters you needed at least 10 clear years on your driving record.  Cautions only apply to minor traffic offences.  I'd check the SDRO website for further information as I'm am ex hwp officer these days and the guidelines may have changed.

No Peter.  I've been out for over a year now mate.  After 28 years I'd had enough and decided to call it a day.

Hi all, slight word of warning about Vic police records office. I got 4 parking tickets from stolen plates of my car and received letter saying the matter was settled. FIVE years later got speeding ticket and all hell broke loose. Took me over a year and three trips to courts in three towns with said letter to get the four tickets (two outstanding) cleared and no recourse for my trouble. Nothing disappears in VIC. Denis.

I recently had the misfortune to be issued an infringement in Victoria (13kmh over) the police woman who booked me gave me the web site address www.police.vic.gov.au (she was also extremely polite something i have not experienced in recent years in QLD & also recommended a good Motel in Torquay!) whereby you download the form for "Internal Review Appeal" which I duly completed  & sent back making no excuses for exceeding the limit other than momentarily looking up the road ahead instead of at my speedo, about a week later I reeived correspondance requesting my traffic driving history record which in QLD is obtained through QLD Transport again I obtained this & sent it to the VIC police who in turn sent notification the infringement is withdrawn in favour of an official warning. the following is from the Infringement withdrawal notice
"As you have been afforded an Official warning on this occasion, you will be ineligible for another warning for a similiar offence for a minimum period of two years from the date of this offence."
