Angel working OVERTIME
« on: July 13, 2015, 03:57:35 PM »
This is just a little story to remind everyone that you cannot relax and switch off for a second.

Last week we bought a near new car and while it was having paint treatment we had a loan car. Whilst driving Chris back from a shopping expedition at the back of Croydon we turned left onto Hewish Road and about 1-150 metres up the road we needed to turn right. As we approached the right turn on Hewish road, a two way road with one lane and a parking lane each side I just happened to glance in the rear view mirror a little white car coming up behind on the right hand side of the road behind us at a reasonably high speed.  I slowed a bit and waited for him or her to pass. This car passed us and continued on for some distance on the wrong side of the road.  I guess I was too surprised to get the rego or even follow it up the road. We turned a bit after they went past and Chris said she was wondering why I was slowing and not turning.

Needless to say if I had turned I would most likely not be typing this message.

Well my angel was working overtime that day and it just reminded me to stay vigilant.
Safe travels everyone

Good one Ppopeye - totally agree with the sentiment of not being able to relax for a second - let alone sending/reading a 30 second text message whilst driving!!!

Only one in 10,000 drivers in this country give the importance of operating a vehicle the priority it requires.      :cuss

Driving a bus in city traffic, I see this often. I just wish I could be a copper at the time, or at least have the power to do something about them.

Just last week I came to an intersection to find a car facing me in the opposite direction stopped in the middle of the intersection busily texting away and the driver kept it up even when the lights changed! :cuss

My Uncle once went to overtake a car with its left indicator on in a 100 zone, only to have them turn right in front of him.  He had his 5 teenage kids and wife in the car at the time.  Fortunately everyone survived, but it could have been worse. Seat belts accounted for a lot of that, because his car rolled.

This is where dash cams are coming into their own. The Police will quite happily examine video evidence. Especially if you tell them you are prepared to give evidence in court.

Same thing happened to my late sister in law . . No one killed but severe damage done . . Luckily both vehicles not travelling at a great speed even tho it was on the Monaro Highway . .
