You can turn location on or off on your phone etc. I have location set by GPS only and the few pictures taken with the camera don't show where I took the photo. The camera app also has a location on/off in settings on my S4 as well. I mainly use a dedicated camera and location is a non-event.

I think you will find that F-Book strips that info from the photo these days.. (after it tags the location....)
  Try it with a pic you have recently uploaded.  I'm pretty sure you cant change the settings in some ones phone with an app on your phone/puter

I never found the knob on my Box Brownie to turn "Location" on, so I assume it's off.  :rofl

Am I wrong (again) but I thought with today's smart phones and most of them having fixed batteries, ie - one's you can't simply open the mobile's case and remove the battery, I was under the impression that with the right software, for certain organizations / people, it is possible to use your mobile phones GPS to locate you or your mobile, any time day or night 24 / 7.

Not only your track GPS location but same as your PC, laptop, etc. remotely turn on your webcam as well without you knowing or being able to do anything about it.   :Stirpot

See --> George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. - - - he might have got the year wrong - BUT, just in case  - - - - - -   :butt   :OldMan

( It's not my fault !!!  My daughter is one of those 'conspiracy nutters' - I get this all the time from her !!!  :fp

The police can roughly pinpoint your location through triangulation using the cell towers. But as far as i know, in Oz your gps cant be used to locate track you. Its only shows like CSI, James Bond that can do it. I think it a law in the states that gps (where fitted) can be used. Its a bit hard to ring a phone, and get it to do stuff without you knowing, unless it the kill signal.

ITs actually quite easy and there are several apps that allow you to "find" your phone provided it is within cell tower range. You have to have already installed the app on your phone in the first place but I'm pretty sure that newer iPhones have this enabled by default to prevent theft.
These apps allow functions such as turn on the camera, turn on the GPS and forward the location, make the phone emit a loud sound to help you find it, etc etc.

Even the newer phones require you to install the app, and the Adnroid app requires you register with your google account. You can the log into your account from a PC or other device to use the functions. So unless the bad guys have accessed your phone and loaded the app, or know you have loaded it and know your details then it cant happen.

The Police can clone your mobile number, and intercept calls emails and messages. Not access the apps though.

I can locate my phone the device manager on Google Play......Being an android phone and having a Gmail account does help. Gives me a location for my phone within 19 metres.
