About crash bars: when mine keeled over, the panniers did not even touch the ground because of the front crash protectors. Other ppl told me the same, so is the expense of installing rear crash bars justified?

I guess I see them as insurance, would think that if a low speed tip over occurred at above stand still on uneven ground you could damage your panniers. One of our members found that his gave him some protection when a car changed lanes on top of him.
