I have since installed the wired controller/mic on the handlebars and have found that there is a little blue light that flashes when the cameras are recording (Handy to know the unit is recording while on the move

)
Another advantage to having it on the handlebars is that I can now tap the lock button to take photos (front & back simultaneously) when I see something I want to photograph

It has been waterproof so far (I have had it fitted on the handlebars while riding through the rain a few times now)

As the wired controller is designed to be placed in a position where it can be utilised while riding I would be amazed if it isn't waterproof.

However if I do have any issues I'll make sure to let everyone know

Plus the microphone is useless if you can't place it somehwere where is can pick up audio. I might look at digging mine out, but not sure if I left enough room to get one more cable out. Shall have a look tomorrow. I turned the g-sensor off because I don't require it and the language settings to Japanese. Looked at a bit of footage this morning. It felt weird not having sound as the gopro always did. Two commutes to Lonsdale today and tomorrow plus a christmas lunch in Old Noarlunga so I should amass enough footage to make a good observation next week. I do like having a date/timestamp on the video.

The g-shock is meant to automatically save the footage just before an accident.

The one on my car often goes off when the car door closes.

It moved three minutes of footage to a separate folder which I hadn't noticed until I started watching the files and already deleted. I'd rather keep in altogether. Incidentally I didn't brake that hard.

I have to admit I was quite skeptical when I read this as my gopros hold nowhere near this and it's only one camera, but today I filled up a 64GB disc with this camera and had 8:06 worth of footage from the front camera and 8:16 from the rear. It does indeed hold eight hours worth on footage.

So I too bit the bullet and got one...on the KLR...but, & there are brains trusts here whom may help??? I am getting a wavy video...I am only guessing but have bought a noise suppressor to install to see if it works as it appears the waves increase under acceleration...any electrical gurus able to offer a suggestion???

That's called the jello effect. I get that on my bike when it is stationery (engine running) but disappears on the go. The best thing is to have it in a postion where it can see some of the bike. If something constant is visibale the camera's anti-jerking function (that's probably not the proper word for it but you know what I mean) will use that to stabilize the video. My rear camera is always perfect because some of the top box rack is always visible and in the same spot.

Im a bit of a gumby when it comes to anything electrical. Is there an easily accessible bit of wire somewhere that is suitable to power this sucker? Hoping that there is one that is really easy to identify - hopefully with a big flashing sign saying "this one"

Thinking that maybe linking it up to the tail light might be an option as this also comes on when the ignition is switched on ( also, under the seat seems to be the best place to keep the kit.)

I put my kit in the top box as I tend to have duffle bag strapped on the seat when I do overnight trips but still would like to access the sd-card.

I would recommend a "Double Mini Blade Fuse Socket Wire Tap" *You can get them from Jaycar (These don't need an inline fuse

)

They look like this... (As you can see it provides two fuse sockets)

Just replace the headlight fuse with the "Double Mini Blade Fuse Socket Wire Tap" (This gives a switched power source that will turn on/off with the bike)
Plug a fuse in the bottom for the headlight and a second fuse in the top for the power to the DV188.
Then finally connect the wire tap to the DV188's power.

Got the bits to do the job and no grace. Apart from having to lose the fuse cover to do this (which I could probably live with, the space above the fuse box is so small that there is not enough of it it put the plastic back on when done.

I did an install on JF3000's bike a while ago using one of these without issue.

Below I'm attaching a couple of pictures showing what it looks like right now after being in use for quite a while, I hope this helps alleviate some of your concerns
