Port Augusta is located about 300 km north of Adelaide, and the Botanic Garden just north of town on the Stuart Highway
Come and join us for lunch at this iconic location at 12.30pm, and if you are staying overnight in Port Augusta you'll have time to explore the botanic garden.

Put Julie and me down for this one. The Arid Lands Botanic Garden Cafe is our go to place for a break when we travel between Pt Lincoln and home. The home made sweets are particularly nice, their prices are fair and the profits go to a very good cause - the Botanic Gardens. We'll probably make an overnighter of it at Quorn or Wilmington/Melrose.

For those looking to add a bit extra to the trip and check-out the giant cuttlefish near Whyalla, but don't want to freeze by snorkeling - as I have a couple of times, this is an option.

However, if the tour departs from Stony Point, the road is not bike friendly. Point Lowly Marina is a safer bet, but departure points appear to vary on the conditions.

Langers, Julie and I are leaving Adelaide earlyish on Saturday for the ride to Port Augusta, and the weather is looking as good as we could ask for in June witha forecast of 18-20 degrees and no rain.

Pete, it will be just be you and me. Julie has come down with a lurgy (2 weeks after getting over Covid). She has done a RAT which was negative so given she's been vaccinated for Covid and Flu it's probably one of the multitude of respiratory bugs floating around now the majority of people have discarded the mask.
See you at 8am as planned.

I got back home at 5.45pm after a 660km day.    This was my first ride over 300km since I trashed my back so badly in August last year, and was a significant test for my body, as I've been avoiding riding.  Despite my very real apprehension, I've pulled up OK, and reckon I'm back in the game.
