2011 Black ST1300 - $8500
« on: February 15, 2025, 07:24:10 PM »
Update:  Some bits removed, to and from Toowoomba km added, price reduced to $8500.

The ST1300, at over 330kg, is now getting too heavy for me.  It is fine when riding, but when manoeuvring on uneven or loose surfaces, it’s more than often too much.  I’ll need to downgrade at some stage, I’ve decided the sooner the better, and now I’m looking forward to my next phase of motorcycle riding.

So, about the ST1300:

•   1st registered August 2013
•   Currently approx. 76,000km, I expect this will be just over 80,000km by the time I return from Toowoomba
•   Oil & filter changed at roughly 5,000 & 10,000km intervals
•   Major service competed at 75,000km – all fluids changed
•   Michelin PR5GT front & rear
•   Currently insured with Swann for $14,420 (agreed value)
•   RWC & registered to 4 July 2025

This ST1300 has been extremely reliable, other than needing service items such as oil, filters, tyres, brake pads and a battery, the only parts that have needed replacement in 76,000km are the fork seals (just replaced).   For those who do not know the history of this ST1300, read on.

I purchased this ST1300 new from Advantage Honda (in Hoppers Crossing, VIC) in July 2013.  As it had sat on the showroom floor for two years, the purchase included new fluids and battery.   Since then it is been well cared for and looked after, except a couple of parking mishaps, a fall in the garage and one on road, and then a spill at walking pace on the Great Alpine Road in March 2023.
Whilst the mishap resulted in only minor cosmetic damage, the insurance assessor declared the ST a repairable write-off (damage was assessed at $7000).

I purchased the write-off, and then repaired it for $1000, all necessary inspections, certificates and re-registration cost me $3000.   This has now been back on the road for around 12 months, currently done another 1000km and is as good as an ST1300 (with around 80,000km) as anyone will get.  The VIV inspection and certificate process is far more arduous, thorough and fussy than the normal RWC process.

The ST1300 as it sits is well set-up for touring, in addition to the all of the standard ST1300 spec’s this ST currently has the following extras, some which may be removed as there has been many requests for some of these accessories and options, such as:

•   Russell Day Long rider & pillion saddles (requested)
•   MCL highway touring rider foot rests (requested)

•   Classic Industries tow hitch (may be removed)
•   Bagster tank cover and tank bag (requested)
•   Migsel triple RAM ball (requested)
•   Oxford heated grips (stay)
•   12v & USB plugs (stay)
•   Pannier & top box bags (stay)
•   GIpro gear indicator (stay)

The ST1300 is located in Greensborough VIC, around 20km NE of the CBD, approx. 5  minutes from the eastern end of the Metro Ring Road, and is available for inspection and a test ride, most times after I return from Toowoomba.

Although the ST is currently not available, I advertise it now to give those attending the NatRally at Toowoomba and anyone else an opportunity to pit their hand up for some or more of the accessories and / or check them out at Toowoomba.

Asking $9500 as currently set up, or offers down to $8500 depending on what accessories remain.  The price is fair considering I sold the similar but standard ST1300 (with 65,000km) for $9500 a couple months ago.

Some pics, more to follow.

Now $8500.

With an additional 5000km (to and from Toowoomba and some) and most of the farkles removed, a price drop seems reasonable.  Even less if you want to arrange your own RWC - lets say $8000.

NO. WILLIAMSON HAS BROKEN INTO A CONVERSATION. INSTEAD OF ASSISTANCE HE IS TRYING TO FLOG HIS OWN BIKE !

$500 off for a RWC. Kidding me right ? RWC for bikes are expensive. 1 tyre alone will set you back at least $500. Should be like $2000 off.

The guy is dreaming.

Even less (make an offer) when other bits removed, and if you want to arrange your own RWC.

Have a mate who owns a roadworthy bike centre. Only a bike no older than 5 years will get through a RWC for $500. He does 40 a week. ST1300 have numersous problems, just like the ST1100. Mine personally was $2100, that was new tyres, brake bleed, minor oil leak, front shocks.

Respectfully thing your dreaming @ $500. Bet it will be well over $1000 !

Thats why its still for sale buddy.... Its worth like $4000 - $6000 or yes perhaps $8000 if it had like 12,000 klm. Check bikesales Many listings around $4900

Fact 1:  This ST300 passed a RWC inspection in early 2024 for the cost of the RWC, no work required or parts required - this was part of the process to get the bike re-registered.

Fact 2:  This ST300 passed a RWC inspection about a month later in 2024 for the cost of the RWC, no work required or parts required - this was part of the process to get the bike re-registered (a second RWC was needed because the first one had expired).  The bike had only done around 500km (running around between appointments and inspections).  Since then a 5000km the fork seals have been replaced.  The tyres are in RWC condition.

Fact 3:  My other ST1300 (replacement whilst this was being repaired) passed a RWC in November 2024 for the cost of the RWC, no work required or parts required.

If you want to criticise to drive the price down, or for whatever motive you may have, I'm not interested, and I don't expect many others on the Forum will be either.

When I sold my other 2005 ST1300 a few years back, the roadworthy cost me just $175...
The bike had around 129,000ks on the clock yet didn't require any work for it to pass so it doesn't necessarily mean an old bike is gonna cost a sh*tpload for a rwc.

Point is, regardless, it is over priced.

NOW SURE i UNDERSTAND THE ODD, OCCASSIONAL 1 "MAY BE" CHEAP TO DO A RODWORTHY. BUT IN GENERAL, THAT IS NOT GOING TO BE THE CASE.

Mine was a 1 owner, full receipts, including full genuine service manual and alsways serviced by Peter Stevens, regularly since day 1. As I said was still $2100 to RWC.

I AM CERTAINLY NOT INTERESTED.

You are asking close to the full retail price when the bike was new ! (I have the receipt for min sitting right here. It was $10,100, purchased New from Peter Stevens)

You are the 1, being incorrect...

It is MAX (WITH A RWC) A $5000 BIKE...

As I say... Do your own research... Check bike Sales.... You are the most expensive & with higher kilometers by far ?

Why would 1 buy yours for $8000, then plus a RWC say your $500, then transfer fee's - So lets call it $9000 plus Rego... When you can get 1 with all of that with RWC and 6 months rego and 30,000 kilometers lesss for $4900

Please Explain - Would love to hear the reasoning.
