Leaving from Brisbane Thursday, 14 Mar; arriving Middleton Friday, 15 Mar.
Looking forward to it.

If your chasing a bed, post and ask if anyone has a spare bunk, and if you have a room and a spare bunk post it up!

There is plenty of camping space available as well, it will be the perfect time of year for it :)

CAN'T GET A BED AT THE CARAVAN PARK?
You can post to see if anyone has a spare bed in their cabin, or if you are a camper, Jane and Graeme at the park have held some camping sites for us, which are adjacent to the cabins.   For overflow accomodation, you can find nearby local B&Bs which you could share, through the following local agent.  Stinky Pete has been down and had a chat to Kerry, who knows about our Rally and is very happy to assist.

Lionel, have you been able to sort out a bed?

I hesitate to accept what might be an accommodation offer by someone called StinkyPete whose snoring is legendary and reputed to drown out a chain saw.

The answer is no, not yet. I’m not carrying any sleeping gear so I’ll have to find accommodation. I was thinking about a pub in a neighbouring village and getting a taxi to and from drinking sessions. But I am open to suggestions or offers.

I never fart    but how did you hear about my snoring?   Tipsy was nearest and camped about 30 meters away at Blackheath, so he couldn't have heard me.    Unfortunately Chris and I don't have a spare bed in our cabin, but here's some ideas......
1.   Post to see if anyone has a spare bed available in a cabin.
2.   I think someone has rented a nearby B&B, who could perhaps offer a bed if one is available.
3.   Greame and Jane at the Caravan Park have some camping sites if you want to bring a tent.
4.   Kerry Rudge, at Dodd and Page, the local holiday rental agency, can probably help with a nearby B&B.  Mob 0419031592 
5.   The Port Elliot Holiday Park (Big4) would be the nearest and nicest park accommodation and you could check for a cabin vacancy there.

Lionel, I think phil St er may also have a spare. If you get desparate there are two top bunks available in my cabin (St George and I have the bottom bunks) for Friday and Saturday nights but no ensuite.

If price I was thinking of just a split between who ever is in the cabin. Booked so long ago I have forgotten the price. Linen is not normally provided but will be for us so probably need to let the caravan park know the numbers sooner than later.

Thanks for everyone’s help with accommodation. I’m beyond top bunks and I wouldn’t impose my restless nights by sharing rooms with others.

The guys at the Middleton CP will call me on the weekend after they have spoken to a couple of owners who rent out their caravans.

If that fails, I’ll find the nearest motel with a vacancy.

As i understand it, the cabin has a double and 2 bunks.. if Annie makes it (her dad is hostpital at the moment) we will take the double, Abe is in a bunk and Wendy has cancelled, so either way, there is still a bunk available  This is a 'no ensuite' cabin....

Some caravan owners rent out their vans at Middleton.
However, the Park won't know until they talk to the owners on the weekend.
If this fails I'll find a motel or pub in the one of the surrounding villages.

hey all, just letting you all know i'm still alive. I've been extremely busy with moving and fixing the new (well it's an old house) house to a liveable standard.

Good news is, my holidays are approved for the trip down  .... the sad news is I've been rostered on call the second week, I tried to get another work colleague to take it off my hands but noone was willing. Conditions of on call, it's your responsibility to find someone to take it if you can't do it, second condition, if on call, you can't venture away from the oncall location by more than an hour while oncall.

That been said, I have to pull out of the trip due to  selfish work colleagues  .
I wish you all a VERY safe trip and hope to catch up with as many as I can on your return trip at the next RTE.

If anyone is around still in BNE, I'm heading to Bundaberg (QLD) for the "Road to Recovery" Bundaberg Rum distillery event on the 15/16th Mar on the bike, so I can still have a mini adventure. Staying up there Fri night then home Sat evening.

Hmm good guess, but I think Rob will be a day care worker and has to be on call for the little tykes in case of a day care after hours emergency.....

WELL.... I've just put the STead back together after installing the quartet harness to power up the powerlet. Pulled all the Tupperware off the left side....? And I gotta tell ya........bugger that... Never again.. OMG .. WHat a pain in the ars!

Anyway everything works...phew... A lot of mucking about to get a connector... Jaycar.. The 12 year old sales clerk wasn't any help and sold me a piece of crap that disintegrated as I tried to install it. Next day (today) went to Supercheap and got a block connector, got home and its two female connectors in the sealed pack.

Off to Leslie's a large Auto electrician in Townsville. The young girls with the Red nails and red/pink streaks in her hair was more help than anyone. Got a decent connector, all installed this evening, Tupperware back on the bike.

All that's left to do is give the Blue Baby a wash and pack her up..... When I get to middleton I'm gunna need a rest.....

Countdown is on for me and Johno to leave Perth on Monday morning looking at the weather forecast we are in for a mixed bag heading east thunderstorms showers tops of 39 in ceduna yuk but that Middleton forecast looks good so far :)
I have my mate making a batch of beef jerky it's the best in the west coming with me and I love a good jerky (Brock no rude comments) hahahaha
Last minute ring the local tyre shop as I was planning on a tyre change in SA but bugger it the old ones have 4,000kms on them and won't make it back so just get new ones now won't have to stop PR2's $480 fitted
