Hi STérs,

I noticed one of my fork seals was leaking a few weeks ago, so I ordered a set and proceeded to research how to do it my self. A google search showed link to little gadget (video Clip) that you insert between the seal and fork leg, $6 -7 from the US. After watching the video

Idecide that it was easy enough to make out of a piece of straight sided PET soft drink bottle, So I tried it out today and hey presto IT WORKS

Now I've got aset of spare fork seals for when Ireally need them.

I have a few of those little devices from when they were on special and I was getting a few other things. An old trick is using a photo negative to do the same thing, as it is thin enough and strong.

I tried the old 35mm film but found it wrinkled

up to easily, must of been my over zealous digits

I used the 35mm film cut to the shape of the tool in the video, worked a treat. Just done 736km on weekend ride and not a drop from right fork leg.

Ta guys, sealmate etc won't work. The tubes were removed and cleaned and the spots can be seen plainly on one and faintly on the other. Looks like a brass finish underneath the chrome.
Maybe I needed to use the seal mate earlier and cleen out the grime.
Might have to go back to the ole us of a websites and track down a cheap set.
Can't take it off the road for two to three weeks to have em rechromed.

Saw a set on ebay last night. Would it really take two weeks to rechrome the legs.

I had troubles on mine for a while due to all the bugs and hard stuff getting on the forks and chewing out the for seals (perhaps I should have cleaned them more religiously?). Having done a few in a short time I have not done any since fitting on some dirt bike fork gaiters for the last few years. There are also some soft foam covers that velcro on and give extra protection.

Just ordered them They are on special now from Seal mate directly. $11 AUS for 2 of them delivered. If it saves me pulling one fork leg off a customers bikes, then they've paid for themselves 20 times.....

They arrived 10 days after ordering them from USA. $11 delivered for 3x seal mate gadgets. Anyway, did 2 bikes with them today, presto!!! they worked a treat. Hopefully there goes (mostly) one of my pet hate jobs...

Finally got a round two it and tried out the seal mate tool

Worked a treat took three or four goes then 600 ks round trip fork is still dry

No leak

Really hot ride on the Brand Hway 43 degree C

Fork seal leaked again at Middleton got them replaced at Victor Harbour no problem since $185
