The joys of google translators and similar........

words might be translated but not the grammer or context leaving a state of confusion.

So, Mr Rob Mc. can I assume that you simply connected the red to power, the black to earth and stuck it in position? Did you also fit a 9v battery to the battery contacts? Also did you have a go at connecting any of the other wires to any thing that might do some good? Last question, did your instructions come in some version of intelligible English instead of the tortured random collection of words (both English and Chinese) that I got with my cheap knock-off? and if so what's the chances of getting a copy?

I looked at the original eBay advert that Diesel found and what I got in the post was exactly the same, down to the colours of the wires coming from the screamer, and the pretty pattern on the front of the little black box, so I'm in no doubt that they are exactly the same thing, just the installation instructions for mine are written in Martian!

Any help would be much appreciated.

PM also sent.
Cheers,
Paul

Trust me , if I can wire it up anyone can. My instructions were as clear as yours so I took a punt and muddled through  and it seemed to work. The orange wire I just coiled up and connected it to nothing.
The green wire is the antenna wire  so I just left it loose near the unit and it picks up the remote signal fine. The red wire I connected to the positive and the black wire connected to the negative.
Miracles of Miracles it works and once I adjusted the sensativity level works just fine. Hope this helps , if you need any further help give me a call 0412168114 and would be happy to talk you through what I did.

Well, it's in same way as you did it Rob. Buried under the seat at the back with the alarm unit stuck onto the inside of the plastic rear lights cluster on one side and the screamer stuck on the other. I linked the red to switched +12v (although quite what that is going to do when the bike is off I'm not sure) and the black to earth, I plugged in the 9v (PP9) battery and lo and behold it works and JEEZ, IT"S LOUD!!! Lets put it this way if your average knuckle-dragger tried to stand the bike up, or push it off the center-stand to steal it, he'd go develop an instant headache and everyone within 100 yards would know he's stealing the bike!!

I think the two yellow wires are output to the indicator lights to make them flash in time with the alarm (either being set, or unset or going off), but what the myriad of other wires do is a mystery.

I've sent a copy of the instructions and wiring diagram to Mr Brock to see if he can make any sense of them.

Yet another Farkle, the next one on the horizon is fitting yellow LED light bars on the back as indicators, as the ones I have on there now are red and Mr Plod doesn't like them!
Cheers,
Paul

Thanks Whizz, I've been following this thread with interest.

Why did you wire it in to switched power though? My nubile electronic brain would tell me that this would only have 'grunt' with the ignition on?

Yet you said it works perfectly - pls explain?

Cheers, Diesel

Good work whizz it just goes to show that persistance and persperation will eventually get you there. Nothing fancy with my set up , red directly to the battery and black to earth.
Anyway as long as it works, I even installed a powerlet last week ,the only scary part was drilling the correct size hole below the right hand pocket . Anyway it all turned out fine and I can now charge my phone and run the little compressor if needed.

Absolutely Diesel, for some one like me that is about as handy as an ash tray on a motor bike , I get great satisfaction when I fit and wire a farkle up and it actually works.

Diesel, from the gobbledegook instructions in Chinese-English (examples given previous) I think that the screamer is actually powered by the 9v, PP9  battery that is fitted separately. I had no concrete evidence to base this on other than I couldn't see what other purpose it would serve. So I wired the Red lead to the switched supply, quite prepared for the thing not to work at all, in which case I would have rewired it to the un-switched supply and seen what happened then.

I actually think that the red is supposed to be wired to the un-switched +12v so that it can do things like flash the direction lights when the alarm is set, un-set or is going off, and also to what I can only describe as a remote engine start. There are references in the 'instructions' to this effect, not that I would dream of EVER wiring this function into a bike, or anything with a manual gearbox. Imagine what would happen if this actually worked and some bright spark had dropped the thing into gear whilst you were away????!!!!

This alarm is supposed to do a whole bunch more things than simply set off a screamer when you stand it up, and I think that this is where the un-switched +12V supply is required. It seems to work just fine on just the PP9, but we will have to wait and see how long it lasts.

I suppose the next step should really be to disconnect it from the bike battery all together and see if the thing still works...might try that tomorrow and get back to you.

One last point is that the PP9 is not a rechargeable battery, so there can't be any current coming from the box when the bike if switched off to recharge this little battery, so what other purpose could it have other than to power the screamer even if the bike battery is flat or disconnected (in an attempt to defeat the alarm).

Now Brock's got the wiring diagram we can live in hope of elucidation.

Your explanation is fine, Whizz, but it lacks that polish that Brock brings to his stories   :grin

Well , I just looked at the drawing, and all I can say its all very clear to me.

The designer is clearly mad.... :|||| :|||| :||||

I may have to order a couple, set em up on a test bech ansd see what blows up :grin :grin :grin :grin :thumb :thumb :thumb :thumb

It seems to be designed to detect movement (powered bt the 9v battery, dont think it will last long). It also seems to be able to remotely kill the engine (how was it started???) Remotely start the engine (How. the ignition is off????) Maybe the orange wire is some how connected to the hot line.

We might need to buy a carton of 9v batteries, Diesel.    :-[

Im a bit confused about the references to connecting the unit up to a 9V battery and the life of that battery. I simply hooked mine up to the 12V battery on the bike and have had no problems so far. Where is the 9V battery located , is it in the micro processor.

Rob, your alarm may be a different unit. the one under discussion has a 9v Battery, presumably inside the case.
