The side stand switch when the sidestand is up, will place a low signal to a portion of the ECU that then tells the bike that it is safe to engage a gear and move off. By placing a hidden switch in the line, you are preventing this signal getting to the ECU.

End result?? Park in neutral, with engine running, turn switch and walk away. Bad guy sees bike, jumps on, puts up side stand, selects first and engine stops. Engine will not start again.

Not a bad result for a few dollars and a little time.

Thanks Brock. Now I understand, thought you were talking about the ignition switch, not a seperate installed switch. Was a little confused at the concept.

Just have to hope bad guy doesn't grab the keys and run away.  He may not have the bike, but he'd definitely have the last laugh then!   :-[

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

OP alarm might work for me.
Getting the ST in and out of our awkward gravelled driveway and tucked in the corner beside the KLR is the toughest part of the ride.
Figure with a locked cover and an alarm I can put it on the street as there is another vehicle always parked there....not like a 1993 is a high theft risk.

Who has that one on?
thanks
