Thermal wear...
« on: May 26, 2013, 08:46:51 PM »
Marianne (Mrs Diesel), whom is too busy with Uni crap..err study ... to post this.... has just secured some fantastic thermal wear for $20 (pants) and $15 (socks) from Anaconda. She said that there were singlets there as well - all of which are currently on special in various sizes.

It's 100% Merino blend and Denali brand - so we expect good results from it.

All this is part of our preparation to ride in anti-Queensland temps in the NSW High country in Winter for the OzSTOC Ebor Overniter.

Check it out soon folks, as the $20 mark down price was covering the normal price tag of $79.99!

Hope this helps.

Cheers, the Diesels

I got ours cheaper than that - Just before Hill End was looking thru a cupboard and found 3 new sets of thermals I had got back in the nineties for Army use out in the cold environs of Puckapunyal - Valley of the four winds  :eek They are great quality and worked a treat keeping me and Boss Dearest warm going from Bathurst to Orange on the way home thru 8 degrees

Cheers

Kathmandu have a deal on at the moment on thermals aswell, 50% off many items if your in their Summit club. The club cost $10 to join, and saved me $100 dollars yesterday on a $200 Polar fleece Jacket that I just had to have.  :grin

Sorry for digging up the dead.....

Not being a pillion, I don't have the comfort of the warmth or protection from the rider.
So being a rider I have found ICEBREAKER fabulous gear for under my riding gear for the cooler times.

http://www.natureshop.com/pages/massive-icebreaker-clearance?gclid=CjwKEAjwwZmsBRDOh7C6rKO8zkcSJABCusnbIViT-O_v_uuxNKvwM7ndTr034bTnisldbY5CCza3zBoC8ZLw_wcB

I usually combine the base layer or layers with a Merino mid layer (I have Kathmandu & Aldi) both of which are great and all the apparel washing well (just don't stick it in the dryer).

The Merino especially the IceBreaker you can wear for 4 days and I'll tell you it doesn't pong....seriously!
On the long hauls, where I am away for days/weeks the less you have to carry the better and it also cuts down on the washing  :thumbsup

I hear some of you saying ooooooooooooooooo and fair enough.

Another good buy are the Winter SKI socks from Aldi. They have slightly padded areas on the shins and instep and have reinforced toes and heels. They are warm and wash & wear really well.

Anyway, my 2 cents seeing as we are in the chilly season of the year.

I has some polyester thermals but they were crap, as they didn't keep me warm, and now live in a landfill.    I replaced them with Smartwool 250gm thermal tops and bottoms which are fantastic.
