All they have to do now is convince the families who buried their children that they have over reacted, and that the school kids were not actually dead.

Recently hackers got into NASA's photo database, and have discovered the first high resolution image of Pluto from the New Horizons spacecraft.  Subsequent images do not show the same features and it is believed that NASA has altered the images. The image  has caused some concern.

This text just came around again - referring to the CEO of Australia Post's ENORMOUS Salary.... Pertinent as stamps just went up from 70c to $1  !!!!!    :eek

I don't care how much you "EARN",  and pay tax on, but this is insane!

On the ABC 7.30 Report on  (Wednesday 23 December 2015) during the segment with Malcolm Turnbull, who was explaining why this increase to $1 for a stamp was necessary.  He never mentioned anything about this eye-opener below.

Australia Post
Recently Australia Post which is totally Government owned and has been for 200 years, announced the loss of 900 jobs, being part of a cut back program.

This is due to the decline in letters beings sent and that’s true as email has further reduced letter writing and in many ways understandably.

The CEO of Australia Post is Ahmed Fahour who was born in Lebanon and came to Australia in 1970.

In 2009 he was made Managing Director and CEO of Australia Post.

His salary package was estimated to be worth $4.8 million last year.  Of this he donated about $2 million to the Islamic Museum of Australia located in Melbourne.

I have a big problem with this fellow’s salary package and so let’s get some perspective here.  The top ten executives in Australia Post combined earn around $20 million each year.  That’s simply immoral and clearly the CEO can afford to give away nearly half his takings to an Islamic Museum as he doesn’t need it, and surprise, surprise ....  it's tax deductible.

The founder and Director of the Museum is former Macquarie Bank executive, Moustafa Fahour - Ahmed Fahour’s brother.

Moustafa’s wife, Maysaa, is the chairwoman and Director.  The Fahours’ sister, Samira El Khafir, is Head Chef and manages the restaurant onsite.

How can the CEO of the Post Office earn so much,  especially when the postal service is bleeding money from letter delivery.  No employee is worth 5 million a year and especially not from a government=owned business.

The top Federal Public Servants in Australia have salaries of between $665,600 and $844,800 so how does the bloke in charge of the Post Office received $4.8 million?  The Prime Minister of Australia earns a modest $507,000 considering the real burdens of office, while the CEO of the Gold Coast Council earning slightly less and that’s patently out of kilter with the PM’s package.  The Mayor of GCCC brings in $225,000 so how on earth can the Post Office justify the massive pay of their CEO?

Let’s look further.  The head of the US Postal Service with 19 times more staff and 11 times more revenue than Australia Post receives $550,000.

In France the head of their Post Office was paid $1.1 million with a staff compliment of 268,000 employees.

What a country full of mugs are we to sit by and let all this happen??  I would have run the big game of Post Office for a lot less and still done a reasonable job and in fact,  if the best of we seniors applied ourselves we could run the damn Post Office better and accept a normal salary and a free lunch now and again.

You had better believe it too.

There is an unpleasant and some would say 'sinister' unbalanced agenda in Australia, which in the end preys on the average citizen, we the people.  We are no longer the lucky country and we are no longer wealthy and this particular game of Post Office reveals major fractures and faults on a number fronts in our society and culture.

Who is running the Country?  Who is pulling the levers? And who is going to win?  We, the Mugs, need to know.

Did we land on the moon!        :think1

Do your own experiment in 3 easy steps......

1) Pick a day where the temp is 36*C and no cloud cover/shade;         :H

2) Park your car in an open car park and go shopping for 2 hrs - windows left up;

3) Return to your car and sit in it for a further hour with no air con or windows down.     :eek

Right - if you did not die, imagine doubling the outside temp to 72*C -     :eek :eek

Now imagine TRIPLING it to 108*C.   :eek :eek :eek

Well - the surface of the moon is 109*C and the lunar lander (LEM) sat there for 9 hours (6 hours parked before disembarking, 2 hrs lunar surface time for astronauts, and a further hour before blastoff).  Yeah Right!

Buzz Aldrin reckons they changed clothing and left the suits on the moon (there is alleged footage of this).

They must surely have perished under these conditions. What does your logical mind tell you of this?        :Stirpot

What kind egg-nishner, 'fridgerated or 'vaporative?  :grin   .... 'coz if they used 'vaporative, that's positive evidence of water on the moon!

If they went at night the cameras would have frozen and we could not be able to see them step onto the moon.
But who went first to put the camera in a position for us mere mortals on earth to watch a man take the steps onto the moon????
I suspect they went to the moon, but the camera equipment of the time was not good enough to take and send pictures back to earth so NASA had to redo it in a studio for broadcasting.  ;-*

Sorry to be a spoil-sport, but there is a scientific explanation:

http://www.spaceanswers.com/space-exploration/how-did-lunar-astronauts-survive-the-extreme-temperatures-on-the-moon/

Over the course of a full lunar day and night, the temperature on the Moon can vary wildly, from around +200 to -200 degrees Celsius (+392 to -328 degrees Fahrenheit), so it’s natural to wonder how lunar astronauts survived this huge temperature variation.

The first thing to know is that all trips on to the Moon’s surface were carefully planned for lunar dawn, to ensure the surface hadn’t had time to heat up fully to its daytime temperature. It is also important to think about how heat can be transferred to astronauts on the lunar surface.

There are three ways heat can transfer and only two are possible on the Moon. The first is radiation, both directly from the Sun and from the Sun’s reflection on the surface. The astronauts’ spacesuits were designed to reflect almost 90% of the light that reaches it, so very little heat would have transferred to the astronauts.

The second is by conduction from the direct contact their feet had with the surface. This is also an ineffective process as regolith on the lunar surface doesn’t conduct heat well and the astronauts’ boots were insulated, slowing down conduction even further. This shows that even though huge temperature variations occur on the Moon, lunar astronauts were never actually exposed to them.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

By who/whom?
If the camera was attached on earth before they went, how did it survive the trip and landing and why did they not use it to show the landing, etc.

I would probably say that when you are outside on a 40 plus day, a lot of the heat is in the actual air around you. As there is very little or no atmosphere on the moon's surface, you would not have that. Anyway my 2c worth and i think my first foray into this thread. :beer
