Just out of curiosity, what are the tyres at Leigh Creek off?  Mining equipment?

The blade at Mount Bryan is bigger than the one at Snowtown.  Which of those is standard I can't say but both are well bigger than the kwaka.

I would presume the Leigh Creek tyres are from some mining equipment.  It's a mining town.  Well it was.  The mine closed about a month after I went there in 2015.  Part of the reason I went there was to see it before the town disappeared.  I am planning to go through there on my way to Kulgera in may (weather permitting).

I'm not sure of the point of your argument, but I thought for a second I agreed with you.

Mine is that the original concept was pictures of STs in front of abnormally large representations of objects, such as the Big Lobster in Stanley (rather than in front of an especially fat, although freshly caught crustacean, even if it's twice the size of similar examples of the species).
Hence my question about the tyres.  It appears they are off some machine, and hence only bigger than bike tyres, but normal for that machine.

This debate was flogged to death maybe 20 pages ago, and I lost interest since the difference in concept seemed to be fundamental to the exercise.  However I had another momentary burst of care. 
I'm back to "careless".

There's a few things in here I didn't consider to be big things myself although they are big (ie. silo art, salt lakes) but will go with the flow.  Is the red elephant at Hatton Vale bigger than a standard elephant?  It's in here and on the wikipedia page for big things.  The wikipedia page lists a windmill in Coffs Harbor which I scoffed at because as far as windmills go it's not that big.

  I have no idea of the original concept of the thread as I'm a relatively new member so was only commenting re the title of the thread and your reply implying it wasn't big.

All the quotes are from books written by motorcycle riders about their rides.   I do let everyone down by not getting one in daily, but I guess the ones I do are the "Motorcycle Quote of the Day".  Or are we talking about "size" here?

I guess, after browsing both threads, it's pretty obvious we all have differing opinions on what's actually classed as big or what constitutes a motorcycle quote...

I saw this contraption from a distance in a side street on the way back to depot on tuesday and thought I must check that out. With an early finish yesterday I went in and asked what it was and if I could take photos. To the latter he said knock yourself out.

So what is it? He did actually tell me but I forgot it's proper name but basically it's something they use to drill holes under roads.

I seek the collective wisdom of those playing this game.    Are the big silo art paintings that are springing up all over the country considered to qualify as "Big Things"?    I reckon they do,  as they are significantly larger than any common size of painting.   I ask because Langers and I have collected a few on our travels.
