It started as per normal RTEs - Some of us joined up early to head to the meeting/start point...
Eventually, the six of us pulled in to the meeting point where another 9 bikes were waiting! The weather was looking gloomy and ominous!
Here the Reuters are speaking with Royce (royst1100) and Denise. You can see Skip and Carol in the b/g and part of Dave (Shiney)
Left of pic is Biggles, then Ray, Trevor (TJ189), Bronnie and another Trev (TreMarg)
From left: The Reuters (2uprider) talk to Marissa - incidentally, I'd like to personally congratulate Marissa on a great job monstering her new Honda down some quite technical bends and twists. Go Girl! - nicely done - you've certainly earned your stripes. Marissa has only started riding bikes recently and demonstrated a natural ability to enjoy the thrill of riding solo. I guess I wouldn't want to look at the back of Barry's head for too long either!
Congrats again Marissa, it was a pleasure to have you guys there.
Behind Marissa are Kevin (Skip) with Dave and Carol (Shiney) and further along again are Royce & Denise. Barry and Gerd are the closest to the camera.
A nice little run from here out to brekky at the Spice fo Life Cafe on Mt Tamborine - others may have pics to post of this - and then the great run down through Beechmont, Natural Bridge and Chillingham to lunch.
We picked up a few more at the Brekky joint - making 18 bikes in total. Terrydj came out to say g'day, Martin joined the crew on his gorgeous blue '04 13, and Ron and Joan joined in - Ron is having the Qld Workshop next weekend - there is not much he doesn't know about building things etc. Also - ask him to see his 3 wheeled car he built - powered by an ST1100 motor! See details here:
http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=678.msg5375#msg5375Anyways down the 'Goat Track' where we picked up RobMc at the bottom and headed on to lunch.
Not many pics here folks because of the nature of the winding road, but I can tell you it is one of the most picturesque and enjoyable rides to be found anywhere!
Here, Gerd follows me through Natural Bridge, and TJ is behind him - can't make out the 4th person - looks like an '03 1300 or possibly Biggles on his '07 'Ruby' 1300.
Made a quick smoko stop and (unbeknown to me at the time) when we got going again, RobMc had some battery trouble and couldn't continue on - Drattaroo Rob - tell us about what happened. Anyway Ron and Joan waited for the Towy and then met us later at lunch. A few folks turned off early for prior engagements, and the rest of us carried on.
We arrived at lunch and by this time a beer was looking real good. I think everyone will agree the food was great and the servings HUGE!
Here is the lunch Crew...
Here goes... Bottom left: Beatup, Carol & Dave (Shiney), Kev (Skip), Denise & Royce (royst1100), Joan & Ron (The really really clever dudes), Martin , Trevor (TJ189) obscured, Bill (Biggles), Gerd, Ray & Bronnie, and Wayne (innet57).
Then, all of a sudden - up rocks Tipsy, who missed the pickup point time, but didn't want to miss the ride or lunch, so he made his own way down = that's class Tipsy - onyamate! Tipsy made up the 20th bike of the day!
Now for the BAD news.....
QLD SETS NEW WORLD RECORD!
Queensland - the original holder of the world record for the number of OzSTOC shirts photographed at an RTE, re-secured their status as the premier state by regaining the title. Here is the World Record winning photograph...
The world record now stands at 9.
Be scared you other states because we had another two earlier in the day and a third that couldn't get delivered on time, and two more form Members who couldn't get there at the last minute!
So 9 is it!
We lined up at a park for this pic...
We ended our run at Brunswick heads after a fantastic ride over the range through Mooball. A final pic of the 11 STs then it was goodbye (TJ189's 1100 is obscured by Gerd's 1100 at the left of shot).
Most of us had a spirited scoot up the Pacific Hwy (the slab) and peeled off as our respective exits loomed. Dave & Carol were heading down to Byron Bay at last report - (tell us more you honeymooners!)
The weather turned fantastic not long after brekky and even hot for the remainder of the day. Storms were never far away though and the storm gods chased us all the way home... we beat them.....
A final look at some of the Qld Chapter of OzSTOC Legends!....
Ian (Beatup) Wayne (innet57)
Martin Kevin (Skip)
Gerd
Boy! If he wasn't already called 'Tipsy' he would for sure be called 'Brando' now. You are the true Merve Hughes of OzSTOC mate!
480 kms for the day for me - loved every centimetre!
Everyone seemed to have a ball - I'll let them tell their story.
Thanks to all you guys for making this another great RTE. Your company was fantastic, and the day was AWESOME!
Another one coming in 6 or 7 weeks.
Thanks again, Diesel
