Honda Crosstourer
« on: February 23, 2012, 03:25:52 PM »
For those who follow what is going on with other types of bikes.  This platform might be the basis of an ST replacement, 40hp loss over the VFR1200 and all  >:(

Just another wannabee trying to topple the king of the mountain. The BMW R 1200 GS of course, being the king

Can't take an 1100 on the Dakar rally.

Depends on what you want from your bike. If I did some more rugged riding as well as the daily commute or longer tour, the Beemer might look like a good compromise.

Cheers, Shaun

Shame Honda went chasing the GS instead of the KTM Adventure.  Honda could have a winner with a new Africa Twin aimed at the KTM.  Maybe there's room for both?

My racing days are over for those kind of antics,  but still like watching any kind of motor sport

And Triumph is ready to release an ST based on its 1200 offroader (looks a bit like an ST13 at the front).  Cruise control and traction control built in.  Why can't Honda show us its ST replacement??

Looks like Triumph's got another winner there.
I rode the Sprint ST before purchasing the ST1300, but waayyy to tucked-up boy racer riding position to be a long distance tourer for me.
The Trophy has a much more upright riding position, didn't Triumph replace the Trophy with the Sprint?

I like the look of the new Trophy.  I took a Triumph Tiger 1050 demo for a ride late last year.  The bike wasn't for me but it was my first experience with the Triumph "Triple" engine.  Wow.....the engine was nothing like I expected.  It had plenty of grunt and was turbine smooth!  I'd definitely have a close look at the Trophy when the ST is due for replacement.

While at the bike show on the gold coast I looked at the spec sheet for the crossrunner. It said the rear suspension had 118mm of travel. The goldwing next to it had 120mm travel. If this bike is designed for rough roads, should it not have more travel??? :bl11
