Ride to Eat
« on: July 29, 2015, 10:16:59 AM »
Hey Guys and Girls,

As OZSTOC is a very informal place to be, participation in events and RTE are NOT mandatory or required or suggested... If you want to go, then go. If you don't, then don't.

We post them as a means to try and get people involved and give people a place to go. We provide destinations throughout the year and post them up on google maps ( https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=z6QZUoQtqNP0.kaLHAlQuG5P8 ).

We try to get at least one a month (except for freezing cold winter), I try to spread them out across the state to give members who are not based in Melbourne a chance to come along, this will sometimes result in what we have this year, which was a number of Overnighters, rather then the days trips.

These "official" for want of a better word, rides will continue, with your input of course...like we did last year with the map laid out on the table and people suggesting destinations.

Having said all that.

If you want to go somewhere or have a place to ride to which isn't part of the yearly list...

Then by all means post it up.

Day trip, Mid week trip, overnight trip, run down to shops for some milk trip.

This site is about you, it's about me, it's about every member, we're all equal on here.

I'm only here if you need help with formatting of site stuff etc, and if you do, please send me a message and I'll get to it asap.

Thanks  :hatwave

a Question about RTE's.

I did try and find the info but couldn't.   :CB--

when attending an RTE is it the location that is central and you ride your own route there ..... kinda like the Far Ride meets but obviously not a distance thing??

or is it a meet up at a location .... then go for a group ride and then eat?

Cheers,

Spanner

It's the destination, i.e the pub for a feed.

How you get there (whether joining up with other riders, or by your self) doesn't matter...

If some want to go on a group ride after they are more then welcome. That bit is up to you

I have done some homework and preparatory work. I also have a rostering situation which is changing for next year. Not sure when it will be resolved so I guess we have to make a start with at least the first couple of months.

Here's a quick view of VIC RTE (day rides - for most) and RTE&S (overnighters - for most) for 2018, that Garry (ppopeye) & I have been working on to help you plan some of the coming year.

Details for Glengarry and Dunolly have been posted in separate threads.  Inverloch is coming soon.  Details on others to be posted soon, as well.  There are a few TBA's, we are open to suggestions on dates and locations (day or overnighters).  So contact Garry or me if you have any specific ideas.

For August, I would like to try an overnighter, something special for those that can't / don't want to make the NatRally in Mackay.   I figure that will be something equidistant (well as best as possible) for NSW, SA & VIC members - of course anyone from anywhere will be welcome.  But using Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne as a start point for each State, I'm thinking this will be somewhere around Griffith, Balranald, Hay ................. there is also a little place called Hillston NSW that looks interesting.

Expressions of interest on this one would be appreciated.

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Is the date firm for October and Harrow because I put our Robe on November 17th 18th on hold expecting to change the location; not the date as well.

If it is then I can swap our October one over to November.

I sent this to Williamson a while back. Maybe he didnt get it. I havent heard.

Sent you a pm on the forum. Alan is ok to do Robe next year. Should we go with the 17/18 Nov for Harrow which is just swapping venues for the South Aussies and come up with one in Vic for Oct. I will try to email Harrow pub and make sure whatever weekend we plan doesnt clash with a busy time for them.

Just sent a PM to Alan and Garry to take this off-line and sort out any misunderstandings; stand by for clarifications.  In the meantime, Glengarry and Dunolly are still okay.

Okay, after reviewing Garry's and Alan's PM's and posts, I have now revised the VIC RTE calendar. and here it is:

So ladies and gents, put some of these dates (perhaps all of them) into your calendar.  If the event dates don't clash with any other commitments AND if you feel like a ride ...... well you will make up you own minds.

Details on each event will follow in a separate thread for an event specific thread.  Send Garry or me a PM if we seem to be dragging our heals.

Mmmmm ....... quality control and checking ain't what it should be.

It's not correct, thanks for pointing that out JD.  At least I know someone other than Alan, Garry and Nigel are following this thread.   I will amend and repost, keep an eye on the date on the first line.

I've updated the OzSTOC RTE Map and left Mar, Apr and May as TBA dates. I've left the icons different so they are easier to find.

When you have the correct dates, I'll update the map.
