Me new/old Intercom
« on: July 30, 2012, 05:33:02 PM »
Well after a month or two I once again weakened. The lack of an intercom was just excellent as it allowed me to have a think. Ahh but I got myself a new/old one.
Got me an Autocom Pro :thumbsup
The reason is???? It works
Just Hook it up and it works
No need for a bloody manual eveytime I want to do or adjust something (Bloody Starcom Digital)
No need to tune anything
Everything just plugs in
GPS, UHF/PTT, Radio,  Mobile phones, just plug em in and that's it and their perfect
No need to charge the unit as its hooked up to bike power
It does have cables, but unlike most, the connections are near indestructible and you don't have to look at em to join em unlike most. Broke 2 connections on a Starcom and bent the inner connection wires heaps of times
I have had an Autocom before maybe 10/15 years ago and the 4 other brands since have just not done the job whether they were BlueTooth or not. Got rid of the first AutoCom because everyone was saying such and such was better?????Bloody experts
So the Autocom it is. And the best thing is I don't have to charge it.
Hmmmm the funny thing is that the riders that have BlueTooth say they hate cable connections, ahhhh but to charge the unit while they are using it on the bike because it has run out of charge??? they have to be hooked up from helmet to bike with a cable :rofl now that's funny, cause I don't have to go to the trouble of that cause mine does it all the time :thumbsup but to each their own

I need something thats simple, dosn't require recharging, is simple plug and play. The Autocom Pro does that. It's not BlueTooth, cable less trendy :think1 but it works

Sounds good mate - that was one of the systems I was pondering for the update to my (old) Autocom. I found Autocom to be a good, reliable workhorse, so I can only imagine the newer ones are far better again. Mine just got long in the tooth, so as technology progressed, I kept having to make allowances which meant extra cables, or pressing buttons whilst riding etc etc.

If I'm still on the bike after 12 hours when my battery goes flat, I can just plug in the other (charged) bluetooth headset and go for another 12 while the first one charges in the Glove box. Because i can guarantee that if Mrs Diesel is using the other headset (pillion) I WON'T be on the bike for 12 hours anyways. All good.

The other option I considered was to rip down to Newcastle and see our good mate Dale for a Starcom. He just set Biggles up recently and he seems quite happy with his result too.
