Confusing phone-call
« on: January 15, 2013, 07:15:28 PM »
I swear this is true and just this minute happened to me; God's Gospel, I 'aint fibbing!

I was sitting reading new posts on the forum and my home-phone rang, so I answered it, and a Irish sounding ladies voice on the other end said "Oh Hello, could I speak to Megan please". Well there isn't anyone in my family called Megan, and I don't actually know anyone called Megan, so I replied, "No, I'm sorry you can't because you have got the wrong number". The lady on the other end replied "Oh, are you sure?". I was gob-smacked, Of course I'm bloody sure, I live here and this is my phone! I did not actually say that, just put the phone down, but the stupidity of the woman on the other end was beyond belief, and triggered me to write this.

My brother rang me tonight (home phone) while I was eating my dinner and the conversation went like this.
Me; hello
Brother; oh, your home.
M   Yep looks like my place.
 B    Are you sure?
M    Hang on while I go outside and check. (At this point I put the phone down and continued eating for a couple on minutes.) Yes it is definatly my place.
B     Oh good, I didn't know if you'd be home.
M     So now that I am, what do you want.

And neither of us are Irish!

I think you should check your ancestry.  The lady in Whizz's story did the nationality proud.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
