My major concern in this is not what is happening now, it is obvious that the Police want to give themselves a big stick to smack anyone they hear about...i.e. the 1%ers riding Harley's and being objectionable heavy's. My major concern is that in 10 years time, when the bikey thugs have become a fading memory, the law will STILL be there, and still under the control of the Police who can then change its use to any other set of excuses they like. Lets face it there are still laws on the books which control how much a convict will be fed every week, how many times a week he may be whipped, and how long he will stay a convict before he can become a citizen. Laws don't expire, they outlast the forgotten reasons for which they were originally created, but they are not removed, and you can almost guarantee that someone in the not too distant future is going to try to come up with a reason for having this Law, simply because the regulation is already there, so lets justify it. Everyone (except the Harley hones) thinks that right now this is a good design for a new Law, but does it really have any justifiable reasoning other than to make the Police and some Politicians 'big stick' far less hassle for them to employ.
Scary scary stuff in my opinion. Please don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no sympathy for 1%ers riding Harley's, and I don't disagree with knicking them and making their lives a misery. I am just very worried and generally p'ssed off about the creation of a new Law which cannot be undone when it has done its design purpose and it is no longer required, but which is general enough to be reshaped and then re-aimed at anything that upsets the people with the power!!
If you don't agree with me then fine, it is highly unlikely that I will be around when this tool is reused as they want it to be, just be warned it won't be pretty!!!
