Update on the 24,000 km service.  Spoke with Vince Strang's today and the ST is booked in on the Friday afternoon after I arrive in Inverell.  $570 to complete the major service and not between $900 and $1100 as quoted by numerous places in Sydney !  BARGAIN. :13Candy

I wont be able to attend the RTE this year as it conflicts with the Wall to Wall Ride for Rememberence ( www.walltowallride.com)
Tackleberry along with TC and myself will be there and maybe some more Ozstoc members but we'll see on the day.
If the date of the Inverell ride could be changed to a week later then I'd be able to attend both.  I think there would be a few Ozstoc members that would also attend both.
I've seen the videos but not been on the ride before, apparently it's quite a gathering.
I really enjoyed Inverell last year, have a good time.

Brad

Thats a Bugger Brad, you will be missed, when we lock in next years we will take into consideration that ride for sure, as i know of 2 others that would have come if it was a week later.

Can anyone advise where would be a good place to overnight as I want to travel part of the way to Inverell on Thursday evening as my bike has to be there for 1pm on Friday.  Half way or just over would be good but open to suggestions as I dont know the area.

Which way are you coming up ??

New England.......bit boring

Thunderbolts.......interesting, but a little rough in places

Oxley........Fantastic, but you have to do mostly Pacific to get to the start at Wauchope (This would be my choice).......cheap accom at Long Flat Pub, west of Wauchope, then nice run up the Oxley, Walcha, Uralla, Armidale, Bundarra and into Inverell by lunchtime.

Uralla has a few places to stay at. Thunderbolts is not that bad, as the good bits make up for the rougher bits by the way I weigh up good/bad (which may be a bit different to how others might judge it).  But then I have an ST1100 which can handle such things easily...A2Z and StGeorge can chime in on how they felt Thunderbolts was on the way back from Ebor.

Best bet is to do the loop and do the Oxley one way and Thunderbolts the other way.

Tell them you'll do it mid-September and then you can claim the Overnighter as a travel expense.
Maybe even get an Entertainment Allowance.  At least get as Meal Allowance!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Add me to the list of those attending. :beer  Unfortunately Fossikers was booked out so I had to get into a motel down the road.  Please include me in the Lions feed which was great value last year.  I am not sure about the ride Sunday morning at this stage but will advise closer to the ride.   :blk11

What kind of weather can we expect in Inverell in September?   I'm hoping for 30 degrees and no rain.

You won't go to far wrong if you allow for 22 top during the day and if the nights clear still just get a frost in the morning.......

That's not cold.....that's considered tropical, where past the cold stuff by then usually.....although we had our biggest snowfall here in years at the end of October last year.
