Retailers are complaining about tobacco thefts.
Try blaming the greedy Govt for ridiculous tax hikes that made it impossible for the average battler to be able to afford tobacco products.

Had a friend who just returned from Germany last Tuesday via Arab Emirates, and he said he paid A$3.70 for a packet of ciggys there, as opposed to $34 for the same size and brand here... TEN times the cost here, just for excise tax??

I solved the problem by giving up smoking. I pay $0.00 for no smokes.

I joined that club around 30 years ago. Looking back, it must've been easy to give-up smoking. After all, I did it around 20 times.

Still trying to give it away... sometimes I don't light up for a couple of days.
Basically smoke maybe up to ten a day, which is far better than 50 per day ten years ago.

I cut down to one a day, and realised that first one was giving me a buzz, which meant I was re-addicting myself everyday. After that realisation, I've never wanted another one.

Seems that most politicians are thinking of abolishing income tax, and just taking the income and all the free perks that come with the job.

Must be great to be able to fly halfway around the world, spend several days in an exotic location just to attend a 3 hour seminar, at taxpayers expense.

Melbourne fuel prices have risen to $1.65.9 per litre, up by 25 cents/litre from 7 days ago.

Tax excise on unleaded fuel is around 4 cents per litre.

10% GST applies AFTER that hike, so around 20 cents per litre goes into Govt hidey-holes.

Commonly known as double-dipping.

75% goes into general revenue, 25% is used to repair roads etc.
