Another 'Blast from the past'
Back in late 70's 2 Sig Regt was on a 3 week exercise, and as we were in a remote location there was no opportunity to purchase any extra grub.
We had to rely on ration packs for the entire 3 weeks, which tends to be a tad boring, and many of the guys complained at the size of the minimalistic basic meals.
When we returned to Melbourne, my mate Terry and I went to our favourite Pizza restaurant in Carlton.
We seated ourslves, and the waiter asked for our order.
Terry said "Family size pizza, four seasons, extra cheese and salami!"
(The 'Family' size pizza in this restaurant was a 27 inch thick crust monster!)
As the waiter turned to go, I said ".... and
I will have a Family size meatlovers, with extra cheese!"
The guy, open mouthed, almost fell over backwards!
Then he moved us to a larger 6 seater table, where there was sufficient room to put both pizzas on the table.
We sat there and ate the entire meal over the next 2 and a half hours. (with several drinks to assist washing it down)
I think that all members of the staff snuck out to witness our massive pigout.
